INTRODUCING OUR LEAD STUDENT VOLUNTEERS

Meet Lucy and Glesni, our lovely lead student volunteers from Cardiff University.

Together, they help coordinate the students who volunteer with us at the garden and kitchen.

Lucy

I'm studying for an MA in Creative Writing at Cardiff Uni and joined the Global Gardens Project because I love gardening and its ability to bring people together. It's wonderful to relax and join in at the garden every Saturday and I've loved meeting new people there. I used to help in my nana's garden in Lancaster and getting back into it makes me feel at home! I also volunteer as a tutor for GCSE English students in Barry and I’m part of the Belly Dancing Society, which is a lot of fun! I can’t wait for the warmer seasons next year to see the allotment in all its glory!

Glesni

I'm Glesni and I am in my final year studying History and German in Cardiff University. I originally come from North Wales, and last year spent a year abroad in Germany as part of my course. I decided to volunteer at Global Gardens as I enjoy volunteering and helping others, and I also enjoy gardening. In the future I would love to work with refugees and asylum seekers as an interpreter, and I am currently learning Arabic so that I can achieve this goal. In my spare time I love to read, travel and learn languages and hope one day I will speak around 7 languages.
